On July 14, 1944, the hopes and visions of a small community group materialized into what is presently known as Mt. Hebron Church Ministries, Inc.

In 1945, a block title church was built in the second block of Victory Avenue.  The Church had 160 members. Rev. Levi Thomas served as pastor for ten years.

Dr. I.H. McPherson became pastor in November 1955.  The Church was then named “The Greater Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church” in 1964.  Membership grew to 415.  Dr. McPherson served as pastor for 22 years.  In 1976, the church acquired additional property for a parking lot.

On September 10, 1983, Rev. Gregory Harris became pastor. During his leadership adjoining church property was purchased in anticipation of expanding.  Pastor Harris resigned on October 23, 1994.

During the interim period the church was under the leadership of the deacon council.

In February 1996, Joseph F. Johnson became pastor.  He was installed March 24, 1996 and is currently serving. Under his leadership the membership grew from 200 to approximately 1100 members by December 2001.

Over 40 ministries were added to meet the need of the growing congregation and the surrounding communities.  In January, 2001, the church name, in view of the humility to the call, accepted the name of Mt Hebron Missionary Baptist Church as its official title.

In 2002, 3 Elders were installed, 23 new ministers were added, and the Community Development Center (CDC) was initiated, to focus on a larger scale of community outreach.  2002 also witnessed the ground breaking of our new Family Life Center and the first Summer Day Camp. Ministries increased to over 50, and membership reached over 1800.

On May 19, 2003, the Mt Hebron Christian Child Development Center opened its doors for business.

In June of 2004, Mt. Hebron further extended its arm into foreign missions with support of a church in Brazil.  And in 2006 World Mission extended into Kenya Africa.

In July of 2006, Mt. Hebron Church Ministries became the name of the church and still is presently.

We continue to be thankful to God for His continued Mercy, Grace, and steadfast love and faithfulness toward us. He continues to allow us to reach the world for Christ with clean hands and a pure heart by Loving God, Loving Truth and Loving People!
