Pastor Linda C. Johnson
Pastor Linda Johnson, is a teacher,
advocate and encourager for women of all ages. She is dedicated to helping them
to pursue the God given purpose for their lives.
She is a native of Mobile,
Alabama and a graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, LA.
After giving her life to
Christ at age 21, Pastor Linda has taught home bible studies and worked in
church ministry for over 40 years, locally and abroad.
In June 1976, Linda married
Joseph Johnson of New Orleans, who is now the Senior Pastor of Mount Hebron
Church Ministries in Mobile, Alabama.
The couple has four
children: Tiffany, Timothy, Nicholas, Christal and is in the process of
adopting two more. They also have 12
grandchildren.
Pastor Linda stands firms in
her hope and trust in the Lord! Because
of that and God’s Amazing Grace, she has weathered many ups and downs in life,
even to include a season which challenged their marriage. To date, they have been
married 46 years. God has used her many life tests to prepare her
to minister to both men and women.
Before returning to the
states, in 1986 while stationed in Turkey, Linda was hired by the Air Force
Base Chaplain’s Office to become the Religious Education Director. Her
duties included overseeing the base's Sunday School Department and
Vacation Bible School. She excelled in this new challenge and became a
viable member of the chapel staff.
In 1989, she and her family
were transferred to New York, which was to be her husband’s last
assignment. Once again, she was given the position of Religious Director
for the Chapel, and managed a Sunday school department of 1,200 students, and a
VBS ministry of over 2,500. She became a counselor for women and
youth in the Chapel.
In 1994, the family
relocated back to her home in Mobile and she immediately began teaching,
assuming a leadership role in the church where she grew up.
She was appointed director
of NBC (formerly Baptist Training Union) and the program grew to over 200
attendees weekly as Linda led them on a journey through the Word that
fascinated ages two through ninety-two.
Pastor Linda now works
alongside her husband, as Church Administrator. They serve together as a
powerful duo both inside and outside of the Church. Linda has been a part of many non-profit
Boards and prayer teams. In additions to her many gifts, she facilitates the
Women’s Ministry and Women’s Bible Studies.
Among her many honors,
Pastor Linda has been awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree from St. Thomas
Christian College of Jacksonville, Florida.
